Spider Michael Brandt ‘15 recently accepted a job as a junior web developer with Booj in Denver, Colorado. Mikey worked at Spiders for almost 2 years while studying information management and technology at Syracuse University’s iSchool. Spiders wishes Mikey the best of luck at his new job! Keep spinning webs.
A few words from Mikey:
“Spiders has been like my second family and helped me become the person I am today. Before I started working here, I worked at FixIt and the Carrier Dome. Both of these jobs were great, but I never enjoyed what I was doing and I would dread getting up for work in the morning. After taking a web design class sophomore year, I knew working with computers was something I enjoyed and could see myself doing for a very long time. Luckily, that summer I applied to work at Spiders. They saw something in me and decided to hire me even with the very little experience I had. From day one, everyone at Spiders was so supportive and treated me like an equal, even though I had no clue what I was doing. After working here the first summer, I knew this is what I wanted to for the rest of my life. For the first time in my working career, I loved getting up in the morning to go to work. I even remember there being times when I would want the weekend to end just so I could go to work and learn something new or continue on with a project.
Everything I have learned about web development was from Spiders. Being able to apply all the skills I learned here to my classes and future job makes me so thankful to have Spiders in my life. I know I’m going to miss coming to work once I move and start my new job. Whenever I think of Syracuse University, the memories that come to mind first will be the ones of Spiders. Thank you for everything and I hope this organization continues helping students out just like it did for me!”
