Marcus McLean

Full-stack Web Developer, 160over90

Do you enjoy your job? Where do you see your career going in the future?
Don’t know yet! I just started my new job. Guess we’ll see. I see myself eventually starting my own company.

How do you maintain a work-life balance?
I have a girlfriend who makes sure I don’t overwork myself.

How did your time at Spiders prepare you for this position? Any skills that have helped you in the workplace?
Spiders allowed me to learn a bunch about web development, and seeing as I’m currently working as a web developer, well I’d say my time at Spiders did a lot to prepare me for my position. Aside from computer skills, Spiders also helped me understand the social and bureaucratic dynamics that can affect the workplace.

What advice do you have for Spiders in regards to securing a job/internship?
Never stop learning, keep pushing boundaries, and never give up. Really cliché, but it’s the truth.

What general advice do you have for graduating Spiders?
To date, no one’s asked me what my grades looked like, and I’ve been in many job interviews. Most expensive piece of paper I’ve ever bought. YMMV.

What do you miss the most about Spiders?
The high-budget, laid-back atmosphere that allows you to learn whatever you set your mind to.
